Obama

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Being a former high school social studies teacher, I definitely paid attention to the elections and it’s great to see Obama get this historic opportunity.  While change is always slow, I think he’s the right person at the right time to lead.

From an educator stand-point, it’s definitely going to be helpful now that inner-city and minority kids can see the possibilities.  Before it was always a theory that a minority could get elected to the highest office; I’m hoping that much like the way minority athletes opened the doors for others to follow in sports like baseball, basketball, etc., this will open cue the interest for more people to get involved in government and politics.

Chris Leben

I just saw on ESPN that Chris Leben is going to be suspended for nine months due to testing positive for a banned substance.  First of all, I have trained with that guy and substances or no, he hits hard and is an animal when it comes to fighting.  I didn’t catch what it was he tested positive for, but I’m sure he’ll learn from this experience.

Secondly, can’t believe MMA news is on ESPN now!  I still remember the days when you couldn’t even find a live UFC event.  Even though the news about Chris was not good, it’s amazing to see how much coverage the sport is getting now.
